How To Set Effective Goals For Your Beauty Business

Having clear, effective goals is an excellent way to stay motivated and grow your salon business. To achieve the long-term goals, you need realistic objectives that will get you there. When setting salon objectives – make them SMART.  This simple framework makes the process manageable and will allow you to set effective goals and enhance your salon’s performance.

Set Effective Goals

Think SMART when setting goals for your beauty business. By following this framework you can prepare for any hurdles – and use them as learning opportunities to make your salon more successful.

Specific

Any goals and objectives set need to be clear and specific. Ambiguous goals are much harder to achieve. You need to know what you want to achieve, why, and what needs to be done to make it happen. Once you have identified your goals, break them down into smaller chunks so you can prioritise tasks and resources.

Measurable

Goals and objectives should be measurable. You must measure progress accurately.  A quantifiable goal (for instance, getting one new client per week or selling 10% more retail products monthly) will help you when reviewing your process. This way you can easily measure and see if you are on track.

Achievable

When it comes to measurable results, it is great to use numbers. Just make sure they are realistic. One new client a week may be a challenge, but is much more attainable than 7 new clients each week. Setting unrealistic goals can lead to disappointment. Keep it real, but make sure you reach your full potential.

Relevant

When setting goals and objectives, make sure they are relevant to you and your business. Think about your values and the bigger picture, what do YOU want to do? Does it align with the time and resources you have? Are your clients ready for the changes? Consider your core values and let that guide your goals.

Time-Based

Establish a time frame with deadlines along the way to keep you on track. If you do not have a clear timeline, you risk putting goals off and letting the busy day-to-day get in the way. Success is not a one-off event, you need consistency and dedication over time.
