Next week is Employee Appreciation Day. Across the country bosses find unique ways to reward and honour their employees.
Most staff members need to know you value them and that their efforts are recognised. Recognition boosts work performance! So now is the ideal time to give your amazing staff the acknowledgement they deserve. Let everyone know about them.
Get on to social media and sing from the rooftops…
Above all make sure they know how important they are to you. Great employees can be hard to come by, and if you lose them it can dent your bottom line.
Here are some ways to recognise those all-important staff members:
- Post about them on social – let your clients know how great your team is.
- Do you struggle to take a step back and let your employees take centre stage? Offer a discount for all clients booking an appointment with your trusted staff member? People are often reluctant to change their therapist but an incentive might sway them. This could release some space in your columns to work on your business.
- Give feedback. If you don’t already offer appraisals and feedback to your employees, now is a good time to let them know. This way they can look at ways to improve and set goals for improving in the future.
- Pamper your employees. How about letting your team experience a SkinBase treatment themselves?
- Treat your team’s tastebuds. Take them out for a thank-you lunch so they know just how important they are to you. If budget is tight, bring in breakfast bagels and bubbly for a team treat.
- Give out fun awards. How about inventing Employee of the Month awards? The prize could be a salon treat or a voucher for a product. You could introduce an actual trophy … or just give them a day off!
What other ways could you show your appreciation? How about encouraging your staff to acknowledge how much they appreciate each other?
Give them a chance to call out the positive things people are doing so they come to your attention. Make sure you are approachable and a valued part of the team. Some salon owners take their employees for granted and think there is no need for a thank you.
Employee appreciation should not be just for one day. It should be embedded in your company philosophy.
Creating a positive culture will be obvious to your customers. They, in turn, will have a positive customer experience.
